My research interest is in the general area of plant growth and development. Research conducted in my laboratory includes studies on reproductive biology, plant tissue culture, plant conservation, and greenhouse environments. Much of our research focuses on major commercial crops such as almond, pecan, apple, citrus, pomegranate, grape, forest trees, medicinal plants, and ornamental species. Research in plant reproduction includes aspects such as floral induction and development, pollination biology, and embryogenesis. We have identified causes limiting reproductive processes and formulated successful strategies for improving production, such as studies to maintain pollen viability, determining flower receptivity, assessment of effects of pesticide sprays, and evaluating factors that affect flower and fruit development. My laboratory also conducts research in plant tissue culture for plant propagation, new crop development, plant conservation, and research on plant development. Research in commercial greenhouse environments has monitored ozone and includes dose response effects of ozone on ornamental crop species. Courses taught: Plant Propagation, Plant Growth and Development.
