Research Interests:
My lab focuses on breeding, genetics and genomics of vegetable crops, especially cucurbits. Our research include (but is not limited to) understanding the plant’s response to disease infection and finding markers/genes that can be used to breed more disease resistant varieties.
I am also interested in plant germplasm conservation and management and ideas on how to ensure more efficient use of germplasm resources.
Teaching:
I teach Plant Breeding [CRSS(HORT) 4140/6140] in the Fall semester every year and Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources [HORT(ECOL) 8XXX] in the Spring semester of even years.
Research: 75%
Teaching: 25%
